The figure of Mary, as she appears in Christian tradition, was a crucial element in the evangelization of Latin America. As a result, the veneration of different representations of the Virgin in each Latin American country or town is commonplace. These advocations* become almost fetish-objects, revered absolutely by their followers. Similarly, followers of blockchain technology turn the symbols that best represent the values and projects with which they identify into fetish-objects. Thus, the Virgin of Crypto is born as an advocation for the crypto world.
Through the collection of NFTs with religious themes and elements, it is intended to explore the intersection between art, crypto and religion.
*Advocation refers to the different titles and artistic representations of the Virgin Mary, with examples being Mother of Mercy or Our Lady of Lourdes.
